March 8th, the day to celebrate women all around the world. International Women's Day was first recognized in 1909. Women in the socialist party were responsible for organizing this event to protest the brutal conditions of factories that females needed to endure. The first National Women's Day was held on a Sunday so that female workers could participate in any protests. International Women's Day is observed all around the globe and feminists of all ages, genders, and races collectively support the Women's Rights movement. Although this day has been celebrated for over 100 years, there is no country where women are equal to men. As of 2019, women are earning .79 cents for every $1 a man earns. Currently 49 countries have no laws protecting women against domestic violence. In 18 countries husbands can legally prevent their wives from working. Change starts now. Today is the day to celebrate females. Like Beyonce from Destiny's Child once said, "I'm a survivor, I'm not gon' give up", this protest will never end until women are met with the same rights men have. Women are strong. Women are heroic. We are warriors. Happy International Women's Day!
